InkPoster Duna designed by Pininfarina – the future of digital wall art
Share
Pininfarina and InkPoster present InkPoster Duna, the world’s first color E-Paper art poster in A1 format. The digital wall art object combines a large-format A1 E-Paper display with a handcrafted, sculptural frame created by the renowned Italian design house Pininfarina.
With Duna, a new category of digital wall art emerges, combining iconic Italian product design with innovative large-display technology. The paper-like screen, the rendering of especially deep color tones, and a wireless battery life of up to one year create a gallery-like experience for interiors — with the authentic appearance of a real print on paper.
Digital Art Display in A1 Format – Not a TV, Not a Picture Frame
With its A1 display format and a width of over one meter, InkPoster Duna is neither a television nor a traditional picture frame. It was designed as a design object and furnishing piece for private homes, hotels, and restaurants.
The influence of Pininfarina design shapes the product down to the smallest detail: from the precision-crafted aluminum housing to the signature use of elegantly stitched Alcantara — a premium material known from luxury automotive interiors. The collaboration is further enhanced by the InkPoster app, which offers an exclusive collection of original design sketches from the Pininfarina archive, providing a rare insight into the creative heritage of the design house.
Unique Pininfarina Design for Modern Wall Art
With InkPoster Duna, digital becomes art. The slim color E-Paper display without backlighting presents images with the natural appearance of a printed poster — while offering the freedom to change artwork at any time. A single tap is enough to transform a room: without cables, without reflections. Technology steps into the background while design takes center stage.
Pininfarina has always understood how to transform form into emotion — from the lines of legendary automobiles to the details that define the brand’s heritage. Duna embraces this philosophy with flowing metal curves that reflect movement and precision inspired by the automotive world. The surrounding profile has been carefully refined to reduce perceived depth. Instead of cardboard, Alcantara is used — a refined tactile material with visible stitching that turns the frame itself into a deliberate design statement.
“Our work with InkPoster combines classic design values with modern display technology. By combining an innovative color E-Paper display with premium materials, we wanted to create an object that feels timeless and integrates harmoniously into any space. We believe this marks the beginning of a new chapter in how technology finds its place within interiors,” says Nicola Girotti, Head of Product Design at Pininfarina.
Your Digital Art Library – Changeable Anytime
With InkPoster Duna, the wall becomes a living gallery. The InkPoster app offers thousands of licensed artworks — from vintage posters and modern graphics to timeless classics. In addition, users gain exclusive access to Pininfarina’s design archive featuring original sketches and iconic automotive prototype designs.
Personal images can also be uploaded and updated remotely from anywhere. InkPoster Duna can be mounted in either portrait or landscape orientation, adapting seamlessly to any interior. Wireless operation and artwork changes with a single tap make Duna a flexible design object for every mood.
Color E-Paper Technology That Looks Like Print
InkPoster Duna uses the latest E Ink Spectra 6 color display in combination with Sharp IGZO technology for faster image transitions. The display reproduces more than 60,000 natural colors without backlighting, behaving like a printed poster rather than a glowing screen.
Millions of microscopic color capsules move like real pigments and “print” each artwork. Once the image is formed, no additional energy is required to display it permanently.
“We could not be more excited about the launch of Duna by PocketBook,” says Johnson Lee, CEO of E Ink.
“PocketBook has been a valued partner for many years. Together with Pininfarina’s design expertise, they are redefining what digital photo and art frames can be. By integrating E Ink Spectra 6 with a Sharp IGZO backplane, Duna delivers impressive resolution and energy efficiency in a beautifully wireless display for art and memories.”
One Year Battery Life – Completely Wireless
Unlike LCD or OLED displays, InkPoster Duna consumes energy only when the image changes. A single charge provides up to one year of operation. Even when powered off, the artwork remains visible thanks to the power-off mode. Once mounted, Duna remains completely wireless — without plugs or cable clutter.
Designed for Mindful Spaces
InkPoster Duna is quiet, unobtrusive, and free from distraction. It emits no blue light, does not flicker, does not glow, and generates no heat. The experience resembles viewing a physical artwork — calm, analog, and comfortable for the eyes. This makes Duna ideal for living and working spaces that prioritize intentional design, focus, and atmosphere.
